Where Food Comes From is soliciting comments on the following draft revised Standards:
Poultry Sustainability Standards Version 1.0, July 2019
Where Food Comes From is launching a set of standards around sustainability in poultry production, called Poultry CARE. Version 1.0 consists of four Standards: Animal Welfare, Worker Care, Environment, and Responsible Use of Antibiotics. Poultry production facilities can get certified to the individual Standards separately or to all four simultaneously. Poultry CARE is applicable to all stages of poultry production.
Where Food Comes From’s main objective in developing Poultry CARE was to develop a set of Standards that reflect state of the art best practice and science in sustainable poultry production for the protection of birds, workers, and the environment. It should be noted that each of the four individual Standards contains certification criteria around Community Engagement, as we consider the positive role of the poultry production facility within the community it operates in to be a foundational pillar of sustainability.
Comments on the Poultry CARE Standards Version 1.0 are welcome while in draft stage. The public comment period will be open for 30 days.
